As you see above, if a student earns at least 70% out of 100% when the course is complete, that student will be awarded a Dubata Certificate.

But how does the final grade (percentage) get determined…especially if there are quizzes involved without a limit of how many points the student can earn?

This guide will quickly answer that question.

How the final score is determined

The final grade in the course is determined by 2 major factors: The weighed average of quizzes and assignments. The number of lessons taken do not matter.

However, if there are no quizzes and assignments, then the final grade will automatically be 100% once course lessons are done and marked finished.

Simple as that.

A quick example with quizzes and assignments

As shown in the image above, if each quiz question is 50 points. In addition, the minimum score required move forward is also 50 points. That minimum score part is not important for this guide right now.

Since the maximum points a student can get from this quiz is 200 points, everything will be based off that (remember: the teacher can set any number of points he/she wishes).

If the student gets half the questions correct, the student earns 100 / 200 points. The quiz grade is 50%.

  • Since the student scored at least 50 points in the quiz, the student can move forward.

Furthermore, if there are multiple quizzes in the course, the final average will come from the average of all obtained points divided by possible points. An example is below, which shows all possible points for each quiz question:

Quiz 1:

Question 1: 50 pts
Question 2: 50 pts
Question 3: 50 pts
Question 4: 50 pts

Quiz 2:

Question 1: 30 pts
Question 2: 30 pts
Question 3: 30 pts
Question 4: 30 pts

Quiz 3:

Question 1: 25 pts
Question 2: 30 pts
Question 3: 30 pts
Question 4: 40 pts

Assignment 1:

Question 1: 50 pts

If a student takes the quizzes and assignment and gets these results:

Quiz 1:

Question 1: 50 pts (wrong) X
Question 2: 50 pts (wrong) X
Question 3: 50 pts (correct) ✔
Question 4: 50 pts (correct) ✔

Quiz 2:

Question 1: 30 pts (correct) ✔
Question 2: 30 pts (correct) ✔
Question 3: 30 pts (wrong) X
Question 4: 30 pts (correct) ✔

Quiz 3:

Question 1: 25 pts (correct) ✔
Question 2: 30 pts (correct) ✔
Question 3: 30 pts (correct) ✔
Question 4: 40 pts (wrong) X

Assignment 1:

Question 1: 50 pts (teacher gave 30 out of 50 points — remember: assignments are manually graded by the teacher)

That means:

Quiz 1: 100 / 200 points
Quiz 2: 90 / 120 points
Quiz 3: 85 / 125 points
Assignment 1: 30 / 50 points

Final result: 305 / 495 points = 61.6% Final Grade

Therefore, if the minimum grade to get a Dubata Certificate is 70%, this person just missed the cut.

However, the student may be able to retake the course again, depending on the settings the teacher set.

And that’s how courses are graded.
